10 Reasons Camila Cabello Might Be This Year's Best Artist
Camila Cabello couldn't have made a more memorable MTV EMA debut (as a solo artist) last year. She brought Havana to the stage for her epic performance of her international hit and then won the Best Pop award. This year, the spotlight is really on her. She's the most-nominated artist with nods in six EMA categories, including Best Artist.
Is she the best artist of 2018? Here are ten reasons she might be:
1. Camila's self-titled debut album, Camila, was released in January of 2018 and our playlists will never be the same. The album went on to be platinum certified in five countries.
2. She has writing credits on her biggest hits including "Havana," "Consequences," "Never Be the Same," "Sangria Wine," and "Real Friends" featuring Swae Lee.
3. She headlined her first tour as a solo artist, the Never Be the Same tour, in 2018. She performed in about 40 cities on three different continents.
4. Camila's music videos, which feature her not-too-shabby acting skills, have been creative, entertaining delights. She once tweeted "my videos are pretty much what the inside of my brain looks like."
6. She recruited Dylan Sprouse to help her create a beautifully sad video for "Consequences." She also co-wrote the video with the director!
7. Camila had a huge year at the MTV VMAs. She was nominated for five awards and won Artist of the Year and Video of the Year.
8. Her video for "Never Be the Same" was the perfect follow up to "Havana." It showed a new sultry and stripped-down side of Camila.
9. She made pop fans' dreams come true by going on tour with Taylor Swift
10. Havana was one of the most streamed songs of 2018 and the most streamed song by a female artist on Spotify.
