Her Minajesty Ruled the 2014 MTV EMA
Nicki Minaj turned viewers around the world into Barbz with her killer gig hosting and performing at the EMA. Plus, epic performances by U2, Alicia Keys, Ariana Grande, and more blew us away!

Nicki Minaj was a triple threat at the time-travel-themed 2014 MTV EMA. She wasn’t just the host with the most, she was also a primo performer…and a prize winner, nabbing the Best Hip Hop award. Add to that her flawless wardrobe—her many ensemble and hair changes were a trending topic—and her no-holds-barred language, and it was clear why they call her Her Minajesty.
But that’s not to say Nicki overshadowed the rest of the talented people who made the 20th-anniversary EMA show a smashing success. After all, nobody but nobody could steal the spotlight from revered artists like U2, Ozzy Osbourne, and Alicia Keys. And although she hasn’t been in the business nearly as long, Ariana Grande opened the show like a pro, with a performance that featured her soaring voice—and Ariana herself soaring over the crowd. The closing performance was also spectacular, with Slash, Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, and Simon Neil of Biffy Clyro joining forces on ‘Crazy Train’ in tribute to Global Icon Ozzy Osbourne.
All that plus a hilarious David Hasselhoff skit paying tribute (sort of) to the host city of Glasgow, Scotland—what more could you ask for from the wild, larger-than-life celebration of music and fans that is the MTV EMA? We’re already wishing we could jump into the EMA time machine and relive this fantastic show!
