things to do and see in rotterdam
It's a pretty cool city.
September 29, 2016
We are beyond psyched to be hosting the EMAs in Rotterdam this year. It's the Netherland's second largest city and it has the culture, crazy buildings and amazing food scene to prove it. There's tons to do in the city. Here's what's on our Rotterdam bucket list.
1. Spend the night in one of the city's Cube Houses. We can definitely picture Miley Cyrus holing up in one of Rotterdam's super trippy cube houses. From the outside, the cube house complex looks more like an Instagram-worthy sculpture than a place to live. The building is a freaky sight because it's made up of 38 yellow cubes that appear to be balancing on their points. Some of the Cube Houses can be booked for overnight stays so anyone can give the #cubelife a try.
2. Sample some of Rotterdam's local treats at the Fenix Food Factory. Make sure you show up to Fenix Food Factory ready to eat eat eat eat eat eat. At the "factory," which is really a marketplace but whatevs, you'll find artisanal Dutch cheeses, baked goods, fresh bread, craft beer, and local fruits and veggies. And, whatever you do, don't forget to hit up the food trucks!
3. Check out Rotterdam's art scene. Visiting Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen is a must for any art lover—we're looking at you Kanye. The museum has one of the sickest art collections in the world that includes works of masters like Rembrandt, van Gogh and Dali. Strolling down Witte de Withstraat, a hip street lined with a bunch of contemporary art galleries, is another fun way to take in the Rotterdam art scene.
