The last time the MTV EMA was in London was way back in 1996. What’s changed and what’s stayed the same over the last 21 years?

Then: Oasis, Alanis Morissette, George Michael, Spice Girls, The Fugees had some of the most popular albums out in 1996.
Now: Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, Daddy Yankee and Zara Larsson dominate the air waves.

Then: Everyone was wearing chunky boots, ringer tees, track pants, gelled spikey hair, neon wind breakers, bucket hats, flannel, tongue piercings and enormous pants.
Now: Everyone's wearing crop tops, cut-out dresses, skinny jeans, hoodies, baseball caps, ripped denim, mom jeans, septum piercings, white sneakers, colorful hair and round glasses.
Then: Kids were obsessed with collecting Beanie Babies.
Now: It's all about Fidget Spinners.
Then: The cringe-worthy movie about drug addicts, 'Trainspotting,' hit theatres in 1996 and became massively popular.
Now: Audiences are getting reacquainted with the old Trainspotting crew following the release of the sequel, 'Trainspotting T2.'
Then: Episodes of 'Friends' weren't reruns and 'The Real World' was one of few reality TV shows.
Now: People can't stop talking about 'Game of Thrones' and reality-TV-lovers get their dose of real-life drama from 'Geordie Shore.'
